Ieva Honkanen
Neuro-Spatial Architect

About the Author:
Ieva Honkanen is a licensed professional architect in 3 European countries: SAFA-qualified architect(Finland), Orde van Architecten - Vlaamse Raad(Belgium), Lietuvos architektų rūmai LAR (Lithuania). As a contruction project manager for commercial fitouts, she has led large-scale commercial and public building renovations, applying technical rigor to the management of human experience.
Pioneering the methodology of Neuro-Spatial Architecture, Ieva treats the built environment as a neurobiologically active system. Her work moves beyond aesthetics, focusing on the evidence-based Biometric Spatial Audit: identifying Neuro-Spatial Friction points, where spatial geometry, acoustics, and lighting trigger the HPA axis and suppress cognitive performance.
By integrating Biophilic Design and Circadian Rhythm Lighting, Ieva engineers environments that reduce amygdala reactivity, stabilize the autonomic nervous system, and optimize dorsolateral prefrontal cortex function. Her approach is rooted in measurable human capital ROI, transforming space from a subjective asset into a precision-engineered performance tool.
With Ieva Honkanen Studio™, she delivers Productised Consulting for high-performance workspaces, ensuring that spatial design is an active, evidence-based driver of team productivity and cognitive health.
Ieva Honkanen Architecture transformed my space into a stunning reflection of my vision and style.
